Year 2009 in Review

Year In Review

From President Uddhav Giri:

This is my last messagel as president of NAFCA. I want to thank all of you for your support and cooperation. This has been a wonderful experience for me and will hold priceless memories.  I want to thank my fellow executive members who served this community along with me. Working with you has allowed me to develop close friendships which will last forever. You have been very cooperative and team players throughout the term. I value your friendship.

Here are some of notable events during my tenure that I wanted to share with you.

Dashain & New Years:
Dashain and New Year celebrations were our major events and our membership came out in force.

Business Class:
Mr. Gajendra Adhikari and Uddhav Giri held a small business class that was provided value to the membership.

Annual Camping Trip:
NAFCA began organizing camping trips during the last week of July. This is an event that many people seem to enjoy with over 60 people participating.

Fundraising:
We did fundraising for many different causes. One of the big ones was for the flood victims of Nepal where we raised over $1300 and NAFCA donated over $400 for a total of $1800. I want to thank again those who contributed on that occasion.

Through the connection of Ms. Manju Tuladhar who is a manager of Wells Fargo Bank in the Vacaville branch, NAFCA received a healthy donation. Wells Fargo bank has been very generous to NAFCA, therefore, I encourage all of you to support Wells Fargo as well.

Immigration Class:
NAFCA held an immigration Q/A session with the help from Mr. Rudra Sharma and Immigration Attorney Ms. Griselda Trujillo. This event served to help our community with the many immigration questions and issues that we face.

Finances:
Financially NAFCA is very healthy organization. When I took over, there was approximately $23,000 in the treasury. Today as I transfer the reins to the new Executive Committee, there is $25,523.05 to be exact.

Pubic Meeting:
We have decided not to hold a public meeting this year due to low participation at the past two meetings and a costly venue.

Special Guests:
We were able to organize a get together function with high level visitors from Nepal.

11th Anniversary:
NAFCA has completed its eleventh anniversary recently and it is one of the most solid Nepalese organizations in existence.  It is the result of hard work from our predecessors and the current team. I hope to see gradual growth and continuing as a solid organization in the days ahead. I am fully convinced that the new team will carry on NAFCA’S mission.
