Dashain Tihar 2011 Festival Celebration
Dashain falls in the month of October. Traditionally Dashain is the most important festival in Nepal lasting for 15 days. Every year NAFCA organizes an event to celebrate this important holiday. NAFCA would like to invite all of you for our most important national festivals.

DATE: Sunday, October 9, 2011

TIME: We will start our program at 5:00 pm sharp, please come and be seated by 4:30 pm, so we can ended our program at 10:00 pm including DJ dance.

VENUE: Veterans Memorial Center:
203 East 14th Street Davis, CA 95616

Ticket: 15$ per Person; $40 for Family

Dashain 2010 Celebration
Dashain falls in the month of October. Traditionally Dashain is the most important festival in Nepal lasting for 15 days. Every year NAFCA organizes an event to celebrate this important holiday.

The 2010 Dashain Program will be on Saturday, October 30 from 4:00 pm to 12:00 am at the Veterans' Memorial Center (203 14th Street, Davis, CA 95616). This year's Cultural Program will feature Yam Baral, Anish Sapkota and Shyam Sundar Acharya and our many talented local artists.

In the collaboration with the Nepalis and Friends Cultural Association and the California Chapter of the International Nepalese Literature Society, a solo poem recital was held by Dr. Badri Bishal Pokhrel in the literary symposium at Woodland, California on May 23, 2010. more...

Nepali New Year 2067 Celebration
In Nepal as in all countries, the New Year is celebrated in many different ways. The Nepalese calendar started by King Bikramditya is based on the solar calendar. Thus, the Nepalese New Year falls in mid-April.

This year some well known singers such as, Anish Sapkota, Shyam Sundar Acharya, Amul Gurung, Nita Thoreson, Murari Bhattarai and many more performed. There were various folk and modern dances performed by our local talented artists. This year there was a raffle for some great prizes including a COMPUTER LAPTOP AND MANY MORE for members.

Our Condolence to Pradhan Family
We are deeply sorry to announce that our Founding Father and Honorary Member of NAFCA, Janaki Pradhan, passed away on June 22, 2009. He is a great soul, with a kind and loving heart who will be greatly missed by all of us. He will always be remembered as we all share the stories and the memories of how he lived his life and how very much he meant to all of us.

NAFCA Celebrates Ten Year Anniversary
NAFCA also known as Nepalis and Friends Cultural Association celebrated it's Ten Year Anniversary on September 5, 2008. NAFCA is a nonprofit and nonpolitical organization that was established in Davis, California, on September 5, 1998. NAFCA has been officially registered as a nonprofit organization in the state of California since February 4, 2000. NAFCA’s mission is to preserve and promote Nepali cultural heritage and foster mutual cooperation among Nepalis and friends of Nepal.

Nepali New Year Celebration

In Nepal as in all countries, the New Year is celebrated in many different ways. The Nepalese calendar started by King Bikramditya is based on the solar calendar. Thus, the Nepalese New Year falls in mid-April. On this day, Nepalis visit the Pashupatinath temple to take a bath in the holy Bagmati River. Pilgrims also visit other religious spots and spend the day picknicking. It is a day to seek blessings from the family priest and one's elders as well.

Special Awards
In April 2006, NAFCA started to give three types of recognition certificates - Outstanding Contribution, Noteworthy Contribution, and Certificates of Appreciation to all performers who participate in our cultural events. NAFCA also recognizes those individuals who have made a substantial financial contribution/donation to NAFCA by giving certificates for Honorary, Patron, and Lifetime memberships. In this way NAFCA hopes to demonstrate our sincere appreciation and to memorialize what these individuals have done for NAFCA.
